How we verify coupon codes

Clean Coupons is edited by Sam Whillance (Founder & coupon editor). We publish store pages for search only when they include working offers, unique guidance, and verifiable store facts — not recycled template filler.

1. Coupon checks

Each listing shows when a code was added and, when shoppers use our “Did this code work?” buttons, how many reported success or failure. We do not invent success rates or fake “last used” timestamps on indexed pages. Expired codes stay on the page in a clearly labelled section so you can see what used to work.

2. Store facts with sources

Before a store page is indexed, we aim to document real policies — shipping thresholds, returns, payment methods, loyalty programs, and similar — each tied to a source URL and a “last verified” date when we have one. Facts are updated over time via our editorial workflow and bot-assisted research; we only render fields that exist in our database.

3. Unique page content

Indexed pages include a custom intro, store-specific FAQs, and sections such as how to apply a code at that retailer, other ways to save, and when sales typically run. A quality score tracks word count, active coupons, and fact coverage. Pages that are too thin or lack active codes are blocked from indexing unless an editor explicitly overrides with documented reason.

4. Affiliate disclosure

When you shop through our links, merchants may pay us an affiliate commission. A portion funds tree planting. That relationship does not change which codes we list — we show what we believe works and label sponsored outbound links clearly.

5. What we do not do

  • We do not publish star ratings or AggregateRating schema without real, eligible review data.
  • We do not copy another store's page onto a different domain.
  • We do not index duplicate near-empty templates across thousands of URLs.
